Restoration and Interior Design of a Grade II Listed Home
This project involved the complete restoration and refurbishment of a Grade II listed townhouse in Bloomsbury, originally dating from the 1790s.
The house had been used as offices for over 20 years and had lost much of its original character and internal detailing. The brief was to return the building to a family home while carefully reinstating its historic fabric.
A significant part of the project focused on researching, sourcing and recreating lost architectural elements, including cornices, doors and skirting profiles. These details were reintroduced to restore the proportions and character of the original Georgian interiors.
Alongside this restoration, a more contemporary interior layer was introduced through a restrained material palette. Polished plaster walls, microcement floors and engineered oak flooring provide a calm and unified backdrop that sits comfortably within the historic setting.
Bespoke joinery was designed throughout the house, integrating storage and functionality while maintaining a consistent architectural language. Soft furnishings and carefully considered lighting complete the interior, creating a warm and liveable environment.
The result is a carefully balanced home that restores the integrity of the original townhouse while providing a refined and practical space for modern family life.
